It is time to buy a loved one a gift, but you’re unsure what to go for? This is understandable, and a common issue for many of us! Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, or just want to treat them to something special, what is the right thing to pick?
Read on for a guide to figuring out the best type of presents and gifts to buy for a loved one.
What are their hobbies and personal interests?
The first way you can think up a perfect gift is to take a look at their hobbies and personal interests. What do they do with their spare time? How about a gift that incorporates this. So, if they love to play and listen to music, how about a new CD, or a turntable? If they love to garden, don’t just get flowers, get them something they can plant! How about a tree? This will grow over time, and if it’s a fruit tree, they can get actual use out of it!
If you still can’t whittle it down to just one thing that you a think they will like, how about a hamper? Pick one from Boxt Hampers & Gifts, and you’ve got a lot of options! You can get a themed one, so one that focuses just on food, for example. Or get one that has a variety of different things inside it. That way, there is sure to be something that they like inside! If not lots of things!
Is this something they already have?
Now, this is a slightly tricky point. If the gift you are planning on buying is something they already have, you need to know the quality of it. If they’ve just got a brand new one, your gift may be a real waste. However, if their current one is old, broken or on its last legs, great! Alternatively, the gift you are buying might be something they can have multiple off. Or, it could be something that compliments what they already have. So, if they are a keen baker, how about a uniquely shaped muffin tray, for example! This complements their interest and current collection without creating a duplicate.
Will they get a lot of use out of it or not?
One common problem with giving the wrong gift is that they will never get used. This means it is a waste of money for you. Plus, probably a bit of a disappointment for them. So, let’s say you’re buying for a female friend. You may think a yellow top is something a little different from what she normally wears. But maybe this is for a reason! Maybe she doesn’t like how yellow looks on her or thinks that it is unflattering to her skin tone.
That being said, there is nothing wrong with novelty presents. A little more frivolous, they are more for the initial amusement than long-lasting use. However, be sure not to spend a lot on this gift. Supplement it with something more useful also.
