When we eat, we tend to go for the taste without worrying about much else. The more picky and health-conscious amongst us will avoid those high in saturated fats, those on diets may avoid the carbohydrates and others are down to personal taste, but few of us realise the amount of vitamins that are in the dinners we are consuming on a daily basis.
The foods that we eat can have a great effect on not just our health, but how we are feeling - the moods that we find ourselves in. It’s weird to think that something as simple as what we eat can make such drastic changes, but the complexity behind what we are putting in our mouths is something to behold.
This vitamin is vital in promoting a strong immune system and also preventing eye diseases. It can be found in foods such as milk, eggs and cereals, as well as certain fruits and vegetables which are dark or orange in colour (an obvious choice would be an orange…)
There are a lot of vitamins which come under this umbrella term almost like subheadings; B1, B2, B3, B6, B12 … the list goes on. They all do different jobs but are centralized around the operations of the internal organs, as well as your blood cells and nervous system. If you eat a good, balanced diet of greens, red meats, legumes, grains and nuts, you’ll be well on your way to ticking all of the B-vit boxes.
Now we’re on to keeping yourself from falling apart - almost literally! Your body will be thanking you for an intake of Vitamin C, as it will helps to form collagen to keep your tissues and cells together. Regular intakes of fruit are what you need, and it can be prevalently found in strawberries, kiwis and all citrus fruits. Pass the glass of OJ!
The thing that is transporting you around, your skeleton, is a lover of Vitamin D. Teeth and bones need a good source of calcium to remain strong and healthy, and Vitamin D helps bones to absorb this vital body-building component. It can be found in foods such as white fish fillets, egg yolks and fortified foods, but can also be gained by taking a step outside in the sunshine and letting the rays absorb for a little while. A great excuse for getting out and about.
Forget about the antioxidant serums that you’re investing in - the way to go is simply intaking more of nature’s antioxidant with certain foods. Whole grains, avocados and vegetables oils are great, healthy examples of what you can include into your diet to help speed things along and get the best from what you’re eating.
If you’re going through a pregnancy, you will most likely be prescribed folic acid to help with the production of red blood cells, as well as helping to make DNA. It can be found in broccoli and other green vegetables such as asparagus. If you try to include a rainbow of different coloured food onto your plate when you’re preparing your meals, you’ll be well on your way to gaining your required vitamin intake!
Even if you leave your baby with a relative or close friend whenever you go to work or head out on an evening, you will find that you always worry that your baby is in safe hands. This is perfectly natural, as all parents worry about leaving their baby with someone else, even if it someone who they completely trust!
Sometimes, though, even the most experienced babysitter or caring family member could do with a little guidance from you about your child. Sharing some simple information with them could really make a difference and could prevent a difficult situation from turning into an emergency.
So, before you leave, make sure you write a quick note with some of the following information.
You should always let the sitter know where you will be. Make sure that they have a contact number for both you and your partner even if the two of you will be together the entire time. If you are going out for dinner, it’s also a good idea to leave the number of the restaurant.
Just think, you might not hear your phone ring in a busy restaurant, but the staff will also be manning the restaurant’s main phone. If you are going into work, leave your office’s number.
It’s also a good idea to leave contact details for a trusted neighbor or relative just in case the sitter can’t get in touch with you or your partner.
Special Dietary Requirements
Any allergies or dietary requirements also need to be mentioned in your note. Even if you have told the babysitter in person, it’s always important to write this down as well so that they do not forget.
When it comes to baby and toddler food, keeping it organic is a priority for many parents. If it is for you, you might want to also mention this in your note and let your sitter know where they can find the organic snacks and food in your kitchen.
Don’t forget to mention any food that your child shouldn’t eat just before bed, such as sugary snacks.
Write down the location of your first-aid kit so that the babysitter doesn’t waste any time looking for it if they ever need it.
You should also make a note of any health conditions that your child has that might need attention. For instance, if your child has allergies you should let the sitter know where their EpiPen is.
You might also like to leave your family doctor’s phone number, just in case!
Your Baby’s Routine
Babies love routines and knowing what to expect next. I’m sure you will have established one for the run up to bedtime. This will ensure that things stay familiar for your tot even if someone else is bathing them and putting them to bed.
By sticking to a routine, your babysitter will be able to sidestep any potential tantrums!
When you leave a note for the babysitter, you will find that you have more peace of mind and won’t worry quite so much!

Dressing up your children in adorable outfits is one of the joys of parenthood. Shopping for their clothes and finding cute things to put them in really makes your heart swell.
However, with babies and children’s skin being so delicate you have to be so careful. Not only with what you wash their possessions in, but the actual fabrics that you buy too.
Here are some of the things to bear in mind when you’re choosing clothes for your little one.
Clothes for children should be soft and smooth so that they don’t irritate their sensitive skin. Cotton is a good choice and fits the bill. However, it’s worth going for organic cotton on the pieces that are going to be directly touching their skin such as undergarments and nightwear. This is because cotton is a crop, however, because it’s not used as food it’s not subject to the same strict guidelines when it comes to chemicals and pesticides. These pesticides can remain on the cotton, and in the fabric, it makes even after washing. Because babies skin is so delicate and porous, this is far more of a problem for them than it is for adults. Pesticides have been linked to all kinds of problems, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. Lots of baby and children's clothes lines use organic cotton, it’s a little more expensive but worth the investment. If you go with a designer such as Stone Island girls and boys clothes you get peace of mind that the best materials are being used. You want your children's clothes to be breathable to prevent overheating, for this reason, it’s best to avoid man-made fabrics. Polyester, acrylic, and nylon, for example, will all pose a problem. While you’re unlikely to even come across baby clothes in these fabrics in a lot of countries- be wary when ordering things like fancy dress costumes from overseas. Or if you’re sourcing fabrics to make clothes yourself be sure to avoid these.
Buttons, Bows and Other Accessories
Anything that is sewed onto children’s clothes could potentially be a choking hazard. The same applies to things like cords and ties or anything else. It’s more of an issue in babies, but even children can put things like loose buttons or zip pulls in their mouth and potentially choke. Your best bet is to choose designs that are printed or embroidered rather than have extra things sewn on. Again be very wary of buying baby clothes from eBay or anywhere else that ships items from other countries. They might not have the same safety standards meaning pieces can potentially be risky.
Children's clothes should have stretch to allow freedom of movement. When they want to play and move around, they don’t want to have to feel restricted or uncomfortable. It also means getting them dressed is easier as you do not have to tug clothes over their head. In the case of baby clothes, opt for items which have poppers at the shoulders which can make it easy to get clothes on and off. Poppers are easy to fasten, and unlike buttons can’t pull off and become a choking hazard. Look into the practicalities of getting outfits on and off when you buy clothes since you’ll be dressing and re-dressing your baby multiple times a day some days.

Secret Number 1
‘A place for everything and everything in its place.’
Determine the best place to store things and ensure they are put back when not in use. Doing this will help you know where to find something the next time you need it.
Purchase multiples of some items which are used in different rooms. For instance, if you use scissors in the kitchen and in the craft room, it would be a good idea to have two pairs of scissors. Teach your children early on where things should be kept and expect that they will put them there.
I find that any horizontal surface, but the kitchen bench tops especially, attract letters, assorted notes, books, magazines, pens and more. It's really hard to keep these areas clear. You might find it helpful to keep an attractive basket or container just inside the front door and encourage your family to drop those items in it until they can be sorted or retrieved later.
Hallway and entry tables with drawers or space for baskets are another option for containing and storing those many items that arrive home with your family and are often allowed to drop in the living room or kitchen counter.

Create routines to help your day run smoothly.
A smooth-running morning begins by having a great routine and doing as much as you can the night before.
Go through your children’s school bags to find out what needs to be signed, or write important dates on the calendar. Make lunches the night before and keep them in the refrigerator. Have your children bathe and choose their clothes. Place everything that needs to leave the house by the door so nothing is forgotten.
Make routines for other parts of the day as well. The more you can get your family used to doing without thinking about it, the better organized you can be. You don't want to use your weekends for catching up on cleaning or organising, either. You need some rest and relaxation on the weekend plus fun family time.

Children outgrow clothing and shoes so quickly. Unless you have children who will grow into clothes, get rid of what is outgrown. However, don’t throw everything away. You can sell clothing, toys and shoes at consignment stores, on the internet, at yard sales or you can donate them to charitable organizations.
Teach your kids to clean out their things, too. Establishing a weekly routine of sorting and cleaning out their school backpacks is a great way to start, (and prevents the buildup of stale food and rotting fruit in their bags..aghhh.)?
Go through your own things as well. If you’re not using it and haven’t in quite a while, someone else might be able to use it.

Ask for help if you need it.
There’s a saying that ‘No man is an island; entire of himself.’
This means you can’t do everything and you shouldn’t be expected to. Delegate tasks you don’t have the time to do or simply don’t want to do yourself.
Enlist your partner’s help in doing tasks they’re better at doing.
Teach your children at an early age to help around the house. Give them chores to do and expect that they will get done. There are many chore charts available that can help organise and provide incentive for tasks and chores. It's a valuable life skill for them, too.
If everyone in the family pitches in (even young children can do something), you won’t wear yourself out by having to do everything by yourself.

Doing this one thing can save you money, time and headaches.
