One of my granddaughters has just turned four and she's as pleased as punch. It's the first thing she mentions when she meets someone... well, the second, actually. It's usually, "I'm DakotahGraceJohnson," all in one breath. The she adds, "I'm this many," and holds up four fingers.
Yes, birthdays are important for children. And so are presents for them. Consequently, I dread buying birthday gifts. I dream of finding an exciting, age-appropriate gift that will be truly memorable.
But each child is so different. And their interests change as quickly as their clothes sizes.
This week I was given the opportunity to take two of my grandchildren to a pre-release of a new toy range, The Amazing Zhus.
These motorised and interactive toys perform tricks and gravity-defying stunts.
They're listed as suitable for 4+ years but Siennah, (2-years-old) was equally enthralled with these little creatures. I was surprised, as they're not soft and fluffy. But she wanted to cuddle all four characters- Abra, Dynamo, The Great Kardini and Piccadilly.
So... if you're desperately searching for that special gift for a child, it's easy:
1. Consider the age of your child. Young ones will like the cute factor of a little, motorised creature running around. A little older, and they will appreciate some of the simple activities of the Amazing Zhus- running around in a can, leaping from the High Dive. Older again, and they will love to use the Zhus and their tricks to astound their friends. I have no doubt that in no time, they will be planning special Amazing Zhus events and performances for family and friends.
2. Choose a Zhus to match their interest. Take it home and wrap it. Easy!

Check them out. I know we had a lot of fun with them and although every child is different,
I think you'll find a variety of Zhu action, activity and fun that will appeal.
